A common question before traveling to Croatia is: What
traditional dishes should I try? Croatia is a diverse country, and in
addition to standard European cuisine, it offers its most popular home-made
dishes and specialties, for example, cold dishes such as the famous Dalmatian
or Istrian prosciutto, sheep's cheese from Pag or Lika, kulen from Slavonia,
sausages from Samobor or Zagorje, and fresh cheese with cream. The main dishes
depend on the area you are in. In Dalmatia and the coastal areas, the islands
and Istria, the main dishes consist mostly of fish and seafood and meat, there
is Pašticada or boiled lamb.
The leading Austrian portal Falstaff focused on gastronomy
and tourism has highlighted the best Croatian restaurants as rated by their
readers.
A total of 660 Croatian restaurants were included in the
"International Restaurant Guide Croatia" list, including all Croatian
restaurants with Michelin stars.
Topping the list is Rovinj's Agli Amici, the first restaurant in Croatia to receive two Michelin stars with an impressive 95 points. It is followed by Lemongarden in Sutivan on the island of Brač and Pelegrini in Šibenik, which also has a Michelin star, both with the same score of 95 points.
